Feeding community

The Brooktondale Farmers Market is in full swing this Tuesday, June 28 from 4-7pm.

Enjoy farm fresh produce from Elmer Family Farm, Whispering Willow and Nook and Cranny, organically raised meat products from Hog Wild and Shelterbelt Farm, hanging baskets and vegetable seedlings from R & C Plants and Produce, prepared foods and desserts from Brookton’s Market and nature drawing activities with natural science illustrator Lucy Gagliardo, free for kids of all ages.

Grab some locally grown produce and meats and pick up dinner on your way home from work or stay a while and picnic on the beautiful lawn of the Brooktondale Community Center.

Tompkins County Solid Waste Food Scrap Recycling Program opens its newest drop-off location, our market, this Tuesday as well. Come down to pick up your free tool kit (kitchen caddy, transportation container and liners). And remember, unlike your backyard compost pile, the Food Scrap program takes meat, fish and bones!

The BFM proudly accepts SNAP benefits, with Cornell Cooperative Extension staff on hand to process those payments.

Support local farmers, eat more nutritious foods, meet and catch up with neighbors!

Our volunteer-run market offers the Brooktondale community fresh local fruits and vegetables, organically raised beef, pork, eggs, local crafts, plants for your garden or porch, maple syrup and baked goods. Hosted by the Brooktondale Community Center, we’ve got easy parking, friendly folks, a children’s playground with plenty of room for throwing frisbees and other fun as well as a regulation-sized basketball court and (often) live music.

The Brooktondale Farmers Market is open Tuesdays, 4-7pm, starting in early June and continuing through late September. We’re always happy to fit in new local vendors, so send us an e-mail if you’d like to join in!
